Online Scout Manager

All Young People who are Young Leaders or helpers. Must have a completed OSM Record shared with the Midlothian District : Young Leader ESU

The Record should be completed by the parent and we should only have 1 record per young person only, so any updates are reflected across all sections.

It must be shared with the Explorer Unit (If applicable), Midlothian District : Young Leader ESU and the section they are volunteering with. This way Leaders have access to the appropriate information

PVG’s

Any Young Leader who does not have a Valid PVG from aged 16, will need to stop volunteering until they do. It is NOT a condition for being an Explorer Scout.

Young Leader Registration.

All young people in a Young Leader or Helper role aged 16 or older, from 1st April 2026. Must have a valid PVG.

It is the responsibility of the Group Lead Volunteer, with assistance from their Leadership team, including Explorer Leaders to ensure that Young Leaders in their Group comply

Adding a Young Person to the Membership System
Young People can now be added direct to Scoouts.org.uk

The following roles must be added:

  • Midlothian Young Leaders Unit
  • Group Section Volunteering
  • Explorer Scout Unit if applicable
  • See Example

Young people can be added from 15 years and 8 months, but its is only aged 16+ where they can use The Scottish Governent’s ScotAccount. These young people would need to. Please allow a week, for the Scouts to add the young person to the system.

Checking ID

Leaders Checking ID will need to be a Team member on Young Leader ESU, and be a Disclosure Support Volunteer. I will add these rights to people in the coming days
