Midlothian District Scout Council came into existence on 1st April 2008.

After the restructuring of Scottish Scouting, Midlothian Area converted into Midlothian District. Under restructuring Districts have more scope to plan and deliver programme support for young people and adults involved in Scouting.

It will be the responsibility of Districts, including Midlothian to organise local Scouting events, this will be done by Districts managed by the District Commissioner and their teams with specific programme responsibilities.

The line of communications for programme support will also flow directly now from Scottish Headquarters to Assistant District Commissioners.
